Mr. Wessel joined Love Funding’s Denver office in 2010 as senior director. In this role, he is primarily responsible for the origination of FHA-insured construction and permanent loans for developers and owners of apartments, senior living and health care properties. Mr. Wessel is also recognized for his expertise in the regulatory issues pertaining to the securitization of FHA-insured hospital loans and was recruited by the Mortgage Bankers Association to chair an industry task force comprised of FHA-approved mortgage lenders and investment bankers.
Prior to joining Love Funding, Mr. Wessel built and trained a national sales force for a start-up FHA multifamily and health care lending division of AmeriSphere Mortgage Finance as its national production director. His background also includes serving as a loan officer with Prudential Huntoon Paige in Denver, Colo., where he was responsible for direct origination of FHA-insured loans. Mr. Wessel was formerly a general manager with Prudential Property Company in Newark, N.J., in the real estate development finance area. Prior to joining Prudential, Mr. Wessel practiced law in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Wessel graduated magna cum laude with a BA from St. Lawrence University, Canton, N.Y., and received a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. In his prior legal practice, Mr. Wessel was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
