Michael McKenzie joined Love Funding’s Boulder, CO, office in August 2019. In his current capacity as director he is responsible for loan origination and focuses on financing apartments, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
McKenzie brings over 30 years of experience in finance, from main street to wall street, most recently in multifamily agency and low-income housing (LIHTC) programs.
Previously, McKenzie served as Vice President of Originations for Dougherty Markets of Boulder, where he serviced clients across the country with Fannie Mae DUS and FHA HUD agency executions. Prior to Dougherty, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Strategist for Thistle Communities of Boulder, a non-profit affordable housing developer headquartered in Boulder.
McKenzie was educated at Northwestern University and The University of Chicago, holding advanced degrees in finance, accounting and integrated marketing.
McKenzie recently served on the City of Boulder’s newly formed Housing Advisory Board. Prior to the appointment, he was a member of the city’s Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) that invested over $19 million to create 503 affordable housing units in Boulder.
